October 17th, 2016: Our season has come to an end and we’re back in Winnipeg until May 2017! It was a great season for fishing and bear hunting but we were disappointed with our moose hunting season. In that light, we will no longer be offering moose hunts. I have had great personal success both guiding and on my own with moose hunting but the pressure to produce when the moose and weather will not cooperate and the expectations of the hunters are often impossible to meet.
We have completely remodeled our Kitchi Lake cabin to accommodate up to 4 anglers and it will be ready starting in our 2017 season! Barry and Jackie did an outstanding job with the cabin, they replaced the roof, the walls, the flooring and painted the cabin. We have a nice new fridge, stove and propane heater installed in the cabin to make it very comfortable in any weather. The screened in porch makes for a great place to enjoy dinner and relax. The kitchen area has a new counter and cabinets and the bathroom has a flush toilet and shower. The lake has been untouched for over 10 years so the fishing will be fantastic in 2017! We have some great dates still open for June and July 2017 and we’re happy to take groups of just 2 anglers in this smaller cabin.
At Aswap Lake we added some nice vinyl siding and insulation to help keep the cold out on those rainy spring and fall days. The new boats and motors were a great addition to the beautiful new cabin. At this time we have a couple of open weeks in August at Aswap Lake for 2017.
At Joint Lake we replaced the floor boards and seat benches and boat seats in all 4 of the boats! Next season, we will also have brand new 4 stroke engines on each of the boats which are really nice and quiet and burn a lot less fuel compared to the 2 stroke engines. We have a week in June open and a few weeks in July open at this time.
At Bolton Lake we started to add gravel to the trails and runway but mechanical break downs and the weather put a stop to our fall efforts. It rained a lot this fall so I expect our lakes to have above normal water levels in the spring. The snow and spring rains will also affect the water levels. June has filled up quickly for next season but we have a couple of really good spots open in early June and early July. Please call or email for details.
